daughter, Mrs.
Joseph Holmes, Thomas Spears died Sunday morning, July 27,
after only a few
days sickness. Mr. Spears had reached the advanced age of
eighty two years,
was a veteran of the civil war and a man of excellent habits
and a devout
Christian. For years the family lived in Shelbyville but
about thirty years
ago they moved to Chicago but after the death of his wife he
made his home
with his son Frank at Mason City, IA. The body was taken to
Chicago Monday
morning, funeral services were held and he was laid to rest
by the side of
his wife in Mt. Olive cemetery.
